The Power of Beeswax

Beeswax is made from honeycomb cells that are collected by honeybees. The bees then use their own secretions to create the wax which they use to build their cells. Honeybees make the wax using a chemical called “cerotic acid” found in nectar, which they mix with enzymes in their stomachs to create small droplets of wax. They then use these droplets to form tiny scales on the inside of their honeycomb cells.

Beeswax has countless uses and benefits, both for our health and industrial use.

Protects the liver , relieves pain and its anti-inflammatory, lowers cholesterol level, heals dry cracked lips and skin, reduces stretchmarks, treats fungal infection and relives stress and promotes relaxation. The three major beeswax products are yellow beeswax, white beeswax and beeswax absolute. Yellow beeswax is the crude product obtained from the honeycomb. White beeswax is made from yellow beeswax by bleaching, and beeswax absolute is made by treating yellow beeswax with alcohol. Beeswax is an amazing way to moisturize the skin and is commonly found in skin care products and cosmetics. It can help protect and repair rough, dry or chapped skin because it has the ability to lock in moisture. The alcohols found in honeycomb and their antioxidant effects helps protect the liver. First thing that comes to our minds when we think of beeswax is candles. This is a good thing since candles made from paraffin can endanger your health since paraffin is a byproduct of petroleum. Best way to consume beeswax is as honeycomb. This way it is in its purest form alongside honey.
